Meet Betsy Vascil and Scott Klein.

Elder candidate

Betsy Vascil

Betsy describes herself as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law, friend, and soon-to-be grandmother. She and her husband, John, joined Bent Tree in 1987, two weeks after they were married. They raised their three sons, Garrett, Josh, and Michael, here, and today Garrett, Josh and his wife, Kelsey, and Michael and his wife, Cristina, all call Bent Tree their church too.

Betsy began serving right away, first with the 2-year-olds and then the babies. Over the years she has served all across Kids Ministry, including third grade, Caraway Street, and FX Live, and she is now back with the 2-year-olds. She has also served on the Worship and Arts team in many of the dramas on stage, and for the last 18 years she has been a facilitator in Tuesday Morning Bible Study. Her passion is serving, teaching, and fellowship.

Betsy accepted Christ as her Savior when she was about 4 years old. Her grandmother opened her eyes to who Jesus really was, and the Living Bible she gave Betsy for Christmas in 1975 started her real journey with God. The four families in the small group she and John joined in 1988 are still together today and remain some of their closest friends.

Scott came to faith at 16 through God’s grace and has spent many years seeking to grow as a disciple, husband, father, grandfather, life group leader, and servant leader. His passion is helping people grow in their faith, develop as disciples of Jesus, and discover how God can use their gifts to serve others.
