The last words of Jesus before his ascension were that his followers, filled with the Holy Spirit, would go and make disciples of all nations. We’ve spent a lot of time in prayer and planning to grow in our relationship with God and others. We see discipleship as a lifelong journey of; intentionally discovering who Jesus is, who we are in him, and the joy of intimacy with him; actively depending on the Holy Spirit as he transforms us from within into Christ’s likeness; and joyfully partnering with Jesus as he lives through us and sends us into the world for his purposes. This is the heart of discipleship at Bent Tree.
