MENTORSHIP

GROW IN CHRIST. TOGETHER

God’s church is designed for discipleship in the context of relationships. There are repeated expressions of “mentorship” as a method of discipleship all throughout scripture.

The fundamental purpose of mentorship relationships within Adult Ministry is to invite and inspire people to embark on a discipleship journey. Mentorship ensures no one walks alone, and is a great way to redeem triumphs and failures we all experience along our discipleship journeys for the good of others.

Mentorship plays a pivotal role in holistic discipleship by providing space for intimate accountability, care, and connection to God. The four growth areas of whole-life spiritual formation are:

  • Caring Relationships
  • Learning Truth
  • Knowing God
  • Serving Others

A well-functioning mentorship experience should feature discipleship growth in these four areas and adhere to the mentorship philosophy. Take your next step in your discipleship journey and see how God will continue to transform your heart through Mentorship!

MENTORSHIP PHILOSOPHY

  • Christ is the real standard, not the life of the Mentor.
  • Mentors are not the experts. It is more like an older sibling dynamic rather than a parent-child.
  • Not all mentors are older in age than the mentee.
  • Pursue a mutual ministry mindset. Learning can and should happen in both directions.
  • Mentorship seasons are defined within a time frame.
  • Mentorship does not replace counseling.

Both a Mentor and a Mentee must complete all Mentorship Training Videos and submit a Formal Application to begin the process. Once all requirements have been met, a Team Member will match Mentors and Mentees together based on responses given within the application.
