FINE ARTS DAY CAMP

Fine Arts Day Camp 2024

June 24-28, 2024

Registration will open on April 3, 2024

Bent Tree’s Fine Arts Day Camp (FADC) is an exciting week-long creative arts day camp tailored for kids who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. The camp centers around the concept that God is the Ultimate Artist, and we are created in his image! Campers explore the creativity and majesty of God through classes in Bible, voice, music, dance, drama, and set design. While learning artistic skills and biblical truths in these areas, the kids are preparing a musical production they perform on Friday night. Throughout the week, they learn choral music and choreography for the show and have hands-on participation in painting and completing the set.

*Lead roles for the musical are cast in the spring through an audition process, and they rehearse before the week of camp.

Our hope and prayer is that the kids will take these treasures with them when they leave Friday night:

  • A deeper walk with Jesus Christ
  • Knowing they are special and unique – with gifts given to them for the sole purpose of glorifying God
  • Music with lyrics steeped in Scripture and godly principles that they will keep in their hearts forever
  • New-found friendships and stronger relationships with their fellow campers
  • A tremendous sense of teamwork and accomplishment through God’s work and presence

MUSICAL

Not Your Average Joe

That Joe – he’s so dreamy! The year is 1959, and at the family drive-in, Papa Jake’s Fries ‘n’ Shakes, things are hoppin’! But favored son Joe always seems to have his nose in a Good Book. When the patriarch of the family, Papa Jake, gives Joe his prized leather jacket and turns the business over to him for the summer, things get gnarly. With some “help” from his jealous siblings, Joe finds himself unexpectedly aboard a woody wagon headed to a faraway land of sand, strange customs, and a Pharoah…er, Great Kahuna…the beach! The ups and downs of the journey remind Joe that God is with him, and the hurricane force of a food crisis teaches Joe and his reunited family the power of forgiveness.

Servant Registration

Servant Registration Now Open

Volunteers are the heartbeat of this ministry! Without you, FADC would not be possible! If you are an adult and would like to volunteer and receive a discount on your child(ren)'s registration, you must complete a volunteer application before the time of registration.

We will do our best to place you in your preferred serving role, but all requests might not be able to be accommodated. Due to numbers and servants and limited spaces on the team, we may not be able to place you in your first request. (**please note that minors serving at FADC must be the age of 13 or serve with an adult**)

We have many opportunities for adults to serve during FADC. Here is a description of the serving opportunities for adults:

    • Small-Group Counselor: Responsible for a group of campers during FADC camp hours. Counselors accompany their campers to all camp activities while encouraging them and assisting them throughout the week. Counselors often have opportunities to engage campers in spiritual conversations.
    • Counselor Coach (college/adult): Coaches will work with our Forge staff to lead a group of small-group counselors. Your role will be to shepherd and support the small group counselors, to handle behavior issues with campers so the counselors can remain focused on their group, and ensure safety among the group. You will be assigned one group that you will travel with throughout the camp day.
    • Buddy: Be a buddy to a camper with special needs during the week of camp. Spend the camp day with the camper and his/her group and assist the camper as needed.
    • Photography/Video/Social Media Team: This team will take photos and videos of campers and activities during the week. Post photos to social media daily. Edit videos for social media and camp performance. Contribute to the highlight video to be shown Friday night.
    • Costume and Prop Team: This team will help the Costume Manager purchase, organize, and stage cast costumes and props.
    • Music Class Team: Learn all the music for the FADC show and assist the Music director in teaching the songs to the campers. Learn all hand choreography and demonstrate it to campers during class. Assist on stage during the show as needed by the Music director.
    • Bible Class Team: Help run the Bible time by participating in the games, illustrations, or discussions with the kids. Bring high energy and enthusiasm through dances, chants, and cheering for campers as they enter the lobby and in the bible room.
    • Dance Class Team: Perform all choreography with the dance class teacher while encouraging campers to participate. Requires basic danceability and lots of energy!
    • Art Team: Help campers with art activities and assist the Art class leader with preparing and cleaning up art supplies before/after class.
    • Lunch/Snack Team: This team will organize and distribute pre-ordered lunches for FADC servants, set up the leader lounge, and put together snacks. These are no ordinary snacks – they are creative and typically go along with the camp's theme. If you like to have fun in the kitchen with a group of others, this is the place for you.
    • Tech Team: support the classroom teacher with technical needs (i.e., music and graphics) and help prepare the main stage for Friday night’s performance.

Servant Registration will close on May 15. You will be notified of which area we would like you to serve in by the end of May.

Background Checks

All adult servants must have a completed background check on file with the church. You will be contacted if we need to obtain a new or updated background check.  Without the completed background check, you will not be able to serve during camp.

What about Camp Mates?

All campers are placed in small groups and spend the week together as a group while participating in larger group activities. If you are bringing a guest or are a guest of someone, please be sure to indicate the other campers’ names on your registration form. This is the best way to ensure that your child will be placed in a small group with his/her guest. Campers older than one year apart will not typically be placed in a small group together. Please let us know if you have a special request regarding small groups. Camper group assignments will be emailed to parents the week before camp.

Is there Lunch and Snacks?

Campers will bring their own sack lunches each day and eat with their small group.  A fun and creative snack will be provided each day during camp.

Please note that we cannot prepare gluten-free or allergy-free snacks due to the number of children and servants we serve. If your child has food allergies, please be sure to indicate this on your registration and plan to send an alternative snack with your camper to camp. A snack list will be provided in your information packet the week before camp, so you can prepare accordingly.

What are the activities?

Your camper will be involved in various activities during the week, including learning cool dance moves, participating in improvisational drama, and singing their hearts out, learning all the fun songs for the musical. The kids will be painting set pieces for the performance early in the week. They will be using latex paint that will not come out of their clothes. We will provide them with old t-shirts to use as paint smocks, but you might also want to send them in clothes you would not mind them getting paint on.

What are the dress up days?
Wacky Wednesday

Get ready for Wacky Wednesday! On Wednesday, we encourage the kids to dress as wacky as possible. Let them get creative and mix it up a little. Encourage them to pick a character and come dressed as that character. Crazy socks, wild hair-do, and shirts inside-out are just the tip of the iceberg of what they can come up with. This will be a great outlet for the kids’ creativity, so let’s get wacky! Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the wackiness as well.

Jersey Thursday

Thursday will be Jersey Thursday! Kids and volunteers are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s jersey or t-shirt.

What is the After Party?

At the conclusion of the performance Friday night, we will move outside for a fun time of fellowshipping together at our annual After Party where we'll have several fun activities for the kids and families to enjoy.

I still have more questions.

No problem, please email Pattie at with your other questions
