As I reflect on these past five decades, one theme rises above the rest: God has been reshaping us and the world through us.
Throughout Scripture, God shapes and reshapes his people for his purposes. Like a potter with clay, he forms, refines, and prepares us for what is next. That has been true throughout Bent Tree's history.
God has reshaped hearts. Countless people have come to faith in Jesus, found healing, discovered purpose, and answered God's call on their lives.
God has reshaped our community. What began as a small gathering of families has become a beautifully diverse church family representing different cultures, generations, backgrounds, and stories, all united by the love of Jesus.
God has reshaped our world. Missionaries have been sent, churches have been planted, leaders have been developed, and lives have been impacted across our city and around the globe.
And God has reshaped this church. Every generation has faithfully stewarded its season, helping shape Bent Tree into the healthy, growing church we are today, a church committed to experiencing and sharing the love of Jesus.
But this anniversary is not simply about looking back. It is about looking forward.
There are still people who need hope, families who need restoration, and children and students who need a foundation of faith. Neighbors and nations are still waiting to hear the good news of Jesus.
We want this anniversary to be more than a milestone. We pray it becomes a defining moment, a moment where we honor God's faithfulness, strengthen our unity, align around his mission, and step forward together into the future he has prepared for us.
Today, half of our church family has joined Bent Tree within the last five years, while many others have faithfully called this church home for decades. Though our stories are different, we are all part of the same story God is writing. The future of Bent Tree belongs to all of us.
I am inviting all of us to enter a season of prayer together during this time. What God wants to do in and through us requires absolute dependence on him. The God who has been faithful for the last 50 years is not finished with Bent Tree. God is still reshaping us and reshaping the world through us.
I'm excited to cross this threshold with you, and I believe what's on the other side is more than we can imagine.
