We believe one simple thing will make a big difference in the life of an at-risk child: One-on-one, positive attention from a responsible, caring adult. Bent Tree is leading the charge in searching for mentors to infiltrate the hallways of McWhorter Elementary with the Life-giving message of grace.
McWhorter is a Title 1 school in Carrollton that has partnered with Bent Tree since 2011. One of our partnership programs is Big Hope — a collaborative effort between Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kids Hope USA, and the Church to support public schools in their communities.
The number of students in need of a mentor continues to increase. For the next year, McWhorter is requesting 25 mentors, especially men, to offset a decrease in mentors over the last year.
What our mentors do:
Spend just one hour per week reading, talking, playing, and/or listening to a child at the school.
By helping the child feel loved and valued, you help that child to learn, grow, and succeed. You can change a life — and that’s no small change.
